Pax Christi at the Greenbelt FestivalAs I stood in line, calf-deep in mud, waiting to ask Giles Fraser a question, I wondered how I had got myself into this. Two years ago, I was a confirmed non-camper, who knew next to nothing about the world of peace making, and now Here I was, four days into a festival, preparing to challenge the views of the man who teaches ethics to the military (and who had become something of a personal hero during the Occupy London protests) Getting involved with the NCPO stand at Greenbelt festival has given me the opportunity to explore a world I knew very little about. The training provided helped educate me about some of the whys and hows of peacemaking, whilst working on the stall helped give me the confidence to talk about these to others. The extensive and inspiring talks program (from Ben Griffin describing his journey as a conscientious objector in Iraq, to Mary Gray analysing Hebrew Scripture in light of the Israel/Palestine conflict) helped me to explore areas I have become interested in further, and has inspired me to consider what else I can do. Becoming a member of Pax Christi felt like a good start
